Arts in the Heart

Now back in full impact, “Arts in the Heart” starts this weekend on September 16 to the 18th. A major staple in the Augustan community, the festival offers an abundance of activities and entertainment for family and friends!

The “Arts in the Heart” is now fully back after two years; in 2020, it was cancelled due to the pandemic and it was restricted to only artwork and limited food vendors in 2021. This year, the festival is now offering everything once again, from food, to performances, to interactive art!

Quite possibly the most popular part of the “Arts in the Heart” experience is the Global Food Village! Attendees can visit over a dozen food booths representing a variety of different countries and cultures. Under the hot Summer sun, you can cool down on some “Halo-Halo” (Shaved Iced Dessert) from the Philippines and gorge yourself on some delicious Ox-tail from Jamaica!

Many will take the stage this weekend, with an assortment of different artists and dancers to shake up the scene! The festival will begin with the finalists of the “Press Play Songwriter Contest” and will be followed by the opening ceremony of the various countries that participated this year. From there on forth, attendees can sit back in the public plaza and enjoy the countless talented performers making their grand appearance at “Arts in the Heart.”

Last, but certainly not least, is the Fine Arts & Crafts Market. From photography, to fashion, to sculpture, there’s no limit to the number of neat knick-knacks and fine art pieces you can purchase from the market. Local artists are such an important component of the Augustan community and it is wholeheartedly appreciated at “Arts in the Heart.” Every piece in the Fine Arts & Crafts Market is completely unique to the artist and even if you don’t purchase anything, it’s still quite a sight to see an endless amount of beautiful artwork.
