Descriptions of Staff and Leadership Positions

· Sports Writer

o This position will include writing sports-related articles for The Buzz. Some of the things you can anticipate doing include interviewing sports coaches, interviewing sports team members, or going to sporting events around the community.


· News Writer

o This position will include writing school-related news articles for The Buzz. Some of the things you can anticipate doing include interviewing administration, teachers, and students, as well as stay up-to-date on school information.


· NA Life Writer

o This position will include writing articles about life in North Augusta and community events for The Buzz. Some of the things you can anticipate doing are interviewing community members or going to community events.


· Website Management Team Member

o This position will include managing the website for The Buzz, specifically helping to put articles and photographs on the website. You will work with your team to organize the website as articles and photographs are sent to you by the Editor-in-Chief in order to prepare for the release of newspaper editions.


· Photography Team Member

o This position will include taking photographs for articles on The Buzz. You will be assigned a section of The Buzz each edition with article topics, which you will then be responsible to get photographs for. Sometimes, this will include contacting the author of the article in order to get details that will help with photographs.

Leadership Positions


· News Section Editor

o This leadership position will include the same aspects of a News Writer, while also covering editorial duties such as leading your section meetings, helping your writers come up with article ideas, organizing who will have what article topics, making sure your writers meet deadlines, editing you writers work, and then turning in all of the writing for your section each month. You’ll also be responsible for attending leadership meetings, where we plan more detailed aspects of the newspaper and work together to make sure everything runs smoothly.


· NA Life Section Editor

o This leadership position will include the same aspects of a NA Life Writer, while also covering editorial duties such as leading your section meetings, helping your

writers come up with article ideas, organizing who will have what article topics, making sure your writers meet deadlines, editing you writers work, and then turning in all of the writing for your section each month. You’ll also be responsible for attending leadership meetings, where we plan more detailed aspects of the newspaper and work together to make sure everything runs smoothly.


· Photography Team Leader

o This leadership position will include the same aspects of being on the photography team, while also covering editorial duties such as leading your section meetings, helping your photographers plan what articles they will get pictures for, helping your photographers decide what to get pictures of for articles, making sure your photographers meet deadlines, ensuring your photographers work is of high quality, and then turning in all of the photos for each moth. You’ll also be responsible for attending leadership meetings, where we plan more detailed aspects of the newspaper and work together to make sure everything runs smoothly.


· Training Positions for Editor in Chief

o This leadership position is unlike any other, in that you will have no other responsibilities than to follow everything the Editor in Chief does. You’ll learn how to run the newspaper, from running leadership meetings, setting deadlines, deciding on article numbers, and working with administration. This position is ONLY open to rising juniors. If you get the training position for Editor in Chief, you will then become Editor in Chief of the newspaper your senior year. Therefore, this position is a two-year commitment.
