Buddy Club Hosts "Perfect Prom"

On Friday, March 11th, North Augusta High Schools Special Needs classes got to meet up with other classes from schools across the district for a prom that was held in their honor. “Perfect Prom” was held at Aiken Co-Op and gave students with special needs the opportunity to dress up and experience their own high school prom.

Students from North Augusta High School pitched in to help and buddy up with students from the class to make their prom even more special.

Lilly Enter, a junior student, says “This prom was something that they had been looking forward to. I wanted to help make it the best possible experience for them.”

“It was a good idea to have a buddy prom so that they could get a chance to be themselves. I feel like at the whole school's prom, it would have made them anxious and less likely to go out and dance and enjoy themselves. This prom gave them the opportunity to be themselves and have fun,” Enter also said.

After fun time spent dancing, the students were treated to a meal from Wife Saver and got to make their own candy bag to take home. To capture this experience, the students got to enjoy the photo booth to take photos with their student buddy.

While not only the students from Ms. Marcus and Mrs. Woods’ class had a wonderful time, the students helping with the event did also. The event was extremely popular in the North Augusta Community. More “buddy club” events will take place through the remainder of the school year.
