Downtown North Augusta Christmas Tree Lighting Celebrates the Holiday Season

The city of North Augusta held its annual Christmas Tree Lighting on November 30th. North Augusta Middle School and Paul Knox Middle School bands held performances for the public during the event. Many members of the community, young and old, gathered to celebrate the beginning of the holiday season.

Adam Scott, a citizen of North Augusta, attended the Christmas tree lighting with his family and friends.

“I came here tonight because I enjoy seeing the Christmas lights and it's nostalgic for me,” Scott says. “It reminds me of my childhood and with everything going on in the past couple of years this really was a wonderful way to kick off the Christmas season.”

The lighting of the Christmas tree is meaningful to many people throughout the city of North Augusta. While some people reminisced old memories, others came to the event to see old friends.

One of such people, Ashley Dover, a citizen of North Augusta, attended the event and met up with some of her friends that she had not seen in a while.

“You know, I think it is nice that the Christmas Tree Lighting was able to bring me and some friends I haven’t seen in a while, together,” Dover states. “The fact that I haven’t been able to see some of my friends for a while, because of COVID-19, and something like this brought us together, is amazing.”

Dover also states that the event is special to her family and their holiday traditions.

“I was so excited to come because Christmas is a big part of my family, and we love to celebrate anything that has to do with the season, so this was a lot of fun for me.”

The Christmas Tree Lighting was a special event for the city of North Augusta, as it brought families and friends together to celebrate the start of the holiday season.
