Common interests of students in the National Honor Art Society include creativity and visual arts. If you are interested in any of these things, you should join the Art Club! The National Art Honor Society, or Art Club, is a club at North Augusta High School dedicated to making and appreciating art. The club meets in the art room every day after school from 3:30 to 4:30. It is run by Miss Polvadore and Mrs. Noland, art teachers at North Augusta High School. Senior members, Reagan Dean and Maggie Johnson, are the president and vice president of the club. Club members have the opportunity to take part in fun art projects, such as the Homecoming banner, sidewalk chalk art event, and much more. There is a twenty-dollar fee to join the club, which in turn gets you an Art Club t-shirt and NAHS registration.

The Art Club does many fun art projects throughout the year. The most popular of these projects are the Homecoming banner, which is a twenty-year tradition. This banner is displayed around the school during Homecoming, and is also shown at the Homecoming football game. Another of Art Club’s projects is the sidewalk chalk art event, which the Art Club sponsors. The club also makes an annual coloring book, makes projects for Veterans Day, and makes projects for Black History Month. The most recent project they have done is the Ruth Bader Ginsburg memorial that is currently hanging from the stairwell by the Cafeteria and the Engineering Rooms at North Augusta High School. Additionally, the club goes on field trips to art museums. However, those have not been confirmed for this school year due to the pandemic.
National Art Honor Society is open to any North Augusta High School student who enjoys art. While great artists are more than welcome, it is not a requirement to be one to join the club. All that is needed is a love for art. If you love art and creativity and would like to make friends that also love art, then you should join Art Club. Please talk to Miss Polvadore or Mrs. Noland for more information regarding National Art Honors Society/Art Club.
