Returning to School Full-Time

As we all know, Aiken County has been using a hybrid system of schooling, going in-person two days per week and learning virtually the remaining three days of the week. Returning to entirely in-person schooling is a relatively controversial topic among the student body. Two of our students, Rachel Walden and Joseph Delaughter, have volunteered their opinions on this matter.

Walden states, “Well I don’t think it’s a good idea at all. Though we have a very small chance of anything bad happening if we get the virus, we could easily spread it to our parents and grandparents who are more likely to have major negative effects. Also, there is no way that everyone will be able to correctly follow social distance guidelines, our classrooms and halls just aren’t big enough for that.”

Delaughter says, “I feel that it will overall help with the classes that I am struggling in and I look forward to seeing all my friends back in school.”

While every student has their own unique perspective, we unite in our desire for a safe, successful transition to in-person learning.
