Every year, the North Augusta Cultural Arts Council celebrates student artwork by holding the Student Art Show at the Arts and Heritage Center. Artwork from grades Kindergarten to Twelfth grade is submitted by teachers, then displayed in the main gallery with high school on the upper floor gallery. This year, the gallery opens for this show on February 17th, extending to March 12th.
A great thing about this exhibit is the honor that each student feels when their art is submitted by their teacher(s). Students from elementary school get to look to role models for art, such as the high-school-aged competitors and can aspire to create works as beautiful as the ones they view.
If you are interested in entering, see your art teacher with your work, name, and grade. Should your art be submitted, you will be able to view your artwork in one of the galleries on March 17th, from 10 am to 8 pm, at the banquet held to honor the participants.
Even if you do not submit artwork, you should still try and attend the banquet to support your fellow artisans and the fine arts of North Augusta. Not many opportunities come for students to submit art, so it’s always a great idea to take advantage whenever you can.
