2020, in and of itself, has been a rollercoaster, and the presidential election has made it even more suspenseful. This year's election has been one for the history books, with states flipping from their normal party support to the other, the first woman and woman of color vice president, lawsuits, and even claims of “voter fraud.”
With how eventful the election was, The Buzz asked North Augusta High School junior Jeffrey Moody and senior Riley Veraldi for their opinions, answering how they think this will change things in the future for our country with a new president coming into office, how it will affect the day-to-day lives of American citizens, and what their thoughts were on the election as a whole.
Here is what they had to say:
Jeffrey Moody: “I feel like not much will change under Biden…I believe that the middle class will get some benefits like student loan forgiveness, but nothing drastic. I feel like this election is so polarized due to social media and the amount of information that a person can easily get access to; most of which are catered towards their beliefs. Hopefully the next election is much more peaceful.”
Riley Veraldi: “I believe that with Biden and Harris in office they will bring positive changes. I’m hoping they will bring back unity, understanding, and respecting one another’s differences. With Harris being the first female vice president, she will show that women can be fantastic leaders and she will hopefully influence young girls to strive to be leaders and have their voices heard too.”
With so much going on in the lives of the American people, the community hopes for unity, regardless of political beliefs. North Augusta shall continue to stand united, as one, and promote peace within our own community and the United States as a whole.
