The Christmas Child Program Returns for the 2021 Holiday Season

The Christmas Child Project has been an important North Augusta High School tradition for the past 30 years. Coach Gilstrap and his Teacher Cadet class run this project every year making it possible for our school to participate.

This project gives each 1st-periodstlass the opportunity to adopt a Christmas child that they would buy presents for, providing a true Christmas to families who have a challenging time providing one for their kids. Each child has a list of items they want/need for Christmas.

“The main goal is to take care of families in need during the holiday season,” says Coach Gilstrap. “I go back to what it means to the NA community. We have students in our school that has been on the receiving end of these items when they were little, and they may not even know about it.”

Mr. Liebman’s class is one of the many classes that is participating in the Christmas Child project. He says, “It feels good to do good. It also is a reminder to be grateful for what you have and to help out those less fortunate.”

The Christmas Child Project concludes with a school-wide Christmas assembly, in which all the gifts are placed in the gym. This happened during the 2021 – 2022 academic year on Friday, December 10th.
