The North Augusta High School Yoga Club

North Augusta High School has recently introduced a new extracurricular: the Yoga and Meditation Club. It allows students to get together and have a time of relaxation and decompression while bonding with each other. Organized by a certified yoga instructor, the club meets every Thursday from 3:45pm to 4:45pm in room D209.

The Yoga and Meditation Club is a unique and rewarding organization. School can be very stressful and busy, but participating in the free, weekly session can help give your mind and body a break. The only necessary supplies for participation are a yoga mat and water.

According to Johns Hopkins Medicine, practicing yoga on a regular basis can help improve your heart health, stress levels, flexibility, sleep patterns, and arthritis. No matter your size, shape, or age, you can do yoga and have fun with it.

The Yoga and Meditation Club’s sponsor and instructor is Ms. Rush, who is also an English teacher at North Augusta High School. She has been a yoga instructor for four years and received her certification from Space Yoga Studio just across the river in Augusta.

If you are interested in joining the Yoga and Meditation Club, you can visit the North Augusta High School website and find the club under “Activities” or you can speak to Ms. Rush about joining.
