TapTruck 2State is a unique beverage company, centering around a truck known as “Harry." Harry is a 1930 Chevrolet Delivery Truck, one of the five types of this vehicle that still exists today. TapTruck 2State shares ownership between longtime friends Mike Heaton and Brad Pond.
Heaton and Pond started the business together because of their love of events and community.
“I enjoy being around people when everyone is happy, and I enjoy being the person at an event that makes people happy, so why not put those things to work and see if we can make a little money doing what we love,” says Heaton. Furthermore, Heaton values hard work, stating he wishes to set an example for his son of what can be done when you are passionate and disciplined.
With a business like this, there are many things to love. For Heaton, “getting to build really cool cars” is his favorite part. TapTruck 2State is also in the process of building out a new truck to add to their fleet, soon to be revealed to the public.
Seeing people enjoy your business and bringing joy to people’s lives is certainly rewarding for the owners to see. Another thing Heaton says that is rewarding is “seeing my son out there with us, helping on our jobs, and getting excited to learn about what we do. He is mini-me and loves making folks laugh and showing them a great time.”
If someone is lucky enough to get to have the TapTruck 2State experience, Heaton recommends the “Gourmet Coffee or Hot Cocoa.” However, Heaton also says “if you’re not feeling a coffee or hot cocoa, you could always go with my personal favorite: “an ice-cold root beer.”
Heaton loves this business, and he said that “it never feels like work if you love it.” In addition, Heaton says “it is important to listen to others, as your ideas are great, but progress is made when making your great idea better.”
