A Day in the Life of an NA Football Player

The NAHS football program is an important part of the North Augusta community. A day in the life of a North Augusta football player is described by seniors Austin Brown and Logan Sommers.

Brown says, “Normally I wake up and appreciate waking up, from there I think about everything I need to do to be successful which includes getting my mind prepared to go out and play my hardest.”

Sommers says, “I wake up every day, run through my mind what I’m going to do, and think about what I can do to help this team this week.”

This shows the level of dedication that these two have to football, being it’s one of the first things on their minds when they wake up in the morning. According to them both, football takes up about 6-7 hours of their day.

Sommers says that, “The combination of football and the courses I’m taking make it hard for me sometimes to do much else.” Brown expounds upon this, saying, “I have very little extra time, I spent the majority of my day with sports and what left over time I have goes to school.”

This may be a little overwhelming for them at times, but the overall benefits outweigh the negatives to the amount of time dedicated to the program.

Brown says that some of the benefits include, “a brotherhood and bond and a program that pulls not just young men together but a community as a whole to be one town with one goal.”

Similarly, Sommers states, “I’m in better shape, it helps us with some organizational skills, and it's an honor to play for my hometown.”

Although the North Augusta football program is intense, it also produces a powerful team. The Yellow Jackets have two away games left before they finish off the 2021 football season.
