As the school year is coming to an end, exams are piling up. Being a student-athlete requires a lot of determination and effort. To be on a North Augusta sports team you have to be successfully passing all of your classes. It can be draining and stressful, but the athletes at North Augusta are prepared for any obstacles thrown at them. Junior softball player Kadence Adams and Sophomore soccer player Ryan Williams share their study habits and how they are able to maintain high grades during their sports seasons.
Adams states “At times it gets extremely stressful. Some days I get home from an away game and feel overwhelmed with homework from every single class with “no-time” to complete.” She later shares that she tries her best to balance her schedule and try to get all of her work done before a game or practice. Williams states “I create free time by getting as much work done at school and finishing the rest when I have a spare moment instead of waiting to get home.” Both athletes agree that finding the right balance between school and sports can be hard, but they each have their own study methods to reach their desirable grades.
Trying to keep all A’s and B’s, Williams says “The strategy that helps me the most is making quizlets and practice tests. I will look over and review them all throughout the day, so when it comes time for a soccer game I know the test material and don’t have to worry about the test.” Adams exclaims that from the years that she is played North Augusta softball that she has been able to grow as both a student and an athlete. She later shares that she made the decision to continue her softball career at North Greenville starting in the fall of 2022. The athletes at North Augusta, including Adams and Williams, illustrate greatness and the grit it takes to push their selfs to be a better student-athlete.
