Over the past few years, North Augusta has worked hard to provide the best facilities for their students. This includes athletic facilities. From building a brand new school to installing a rubber track on the football field, there are so many amazing things that North Augusta provides. North Augusta High School’s latest project is the new gym. The new gym includes a weight room, a practice gym, the chorus and band rooms, and the main gym.
The first thing that can be observed when coming to the gym is the tiled wall with the North Augusta logo. It has a huge “NA” on it, along with yellow and black tiles. If observed at night, the NA lit up by a backlight can be seen. This wall has quickly become a favorite backdrop for student photographs. There is no doubt where you are when you see this sign in front of the new gym!
There are also many things to be observed on the competition floor. There is a Yellow Jacket and a NA on either side of the wall, along with the NA in the middle of the court. There is a score board hanging from the ceiling and bleachers that surround the court in an arena style. The dark stained wood floor is something special to the North Augusta gym, as it is unlike any other in our state.
Behind the competition floor is the practice floor. It is a place where the North Augusta team can warm up before their games. It is also used for practicing multiple teams at one time. Now, multiple teams can practice at once, which will be beneficial to the athletics at North Augusta.
Another area of the new gym is the weight room. The weight room is 6,700 square feet and includes brand new weight lifting equipment. It also has two giant ceiling fans and 40 yards of turf for speed and agility training. The football locker room includes 140 lockers and will become the wresting and cheerleading room when the football field house is built. There is a premier training room where athletes go to be treated. This includes not only hot and cold tubs, but numerous tables where athletes can receive therapy.
The performing arts corner of the new gym includes the band, orchestra, and chorus rooms. They also have a music library, which is a place to store the instruments and offices. This space also includes an AP music classroom and a keyboarding classroom. On the outside of the gym, the band has their own storage room to store their props and gator.
The new gym at North Augusta has much to offer. North Augusta students, faculty, and staff are looking forward to this new development to the school.
