Senior night at North Augusta High School is an important night for senior athletes and their families. It recognizes their accomplishments over their high school career, especially in athletics. Each senior is recognized at the athletic event that senior night takes place on and their families get to be with them. It’s a special moment for each senior athlete and their families.
When asked why senior night was important, Kendra Sterling, a senior at North Augusta High School, stated, “Senior night is important to honor all the seniors in the sport who have been a part of something bigger for North Augusta. It honors the late-night practices, the hard work, the sacrifices, the blood, sweat, and tears that go into every sport. Sports are a big part of North Augusta, and honoring the years they have participated is sentimental to the athlete, parents, fans, and coaches. Senior night gives athletes a chance to shine individually before they go their separate ways in the months approaching.”
When asked about her favorite part of senior night, Sterling stated, “My favorite thing about senior night is the community coming together to celebrate and love on the seniors who have accomplished so much in their past four years. No matter whether your senior night takes place on the football field, basketball court, or golf course, everyone is celebrating the seniors for who they have become, and where they are going.”
After being asked what senior night means to her, Sterling said, “Senior night to me means I know that my last few months at North Augusta High School are coming to an end. Senior night is just one way to have a small tribute to all my time here. As my last game as a cheerleader are approaching, I cherish all the memories and moments that we live in today. As a senior, I have cheered a little harder, encouraged a little more, and poured more into the team than I have in past years, knowing that these are the last games I will be a part of.”
Congratulations to all of the senior athletes at North Augusta!
