As spring sports start, so does boy’s tennis! Our Jackets have done great this year and will be advancing to playoffs.
Sophomore Flip Hooks is a part of the tennis team here at North Augusta. Hooks stated in his interview that he has been playing tennis for two years. When asked what his favorite part of tennis was, Hooks stated, “The best part about playing tennis is the fun energy and the people you play with.”
With the team’s staggering success this year, questions arise about the amount of practice they ensure. After asking Hooks how many days a week they practice, he stated, “We practice three to four days a week.” The other days of the week are saved for matches. Hard work sure does pay off for these jackets!
Although considered a complicated game, Hooks makes the argument that tennis is much simpler than most believe. When asked to explain the sport, he stated, “You try and hit the ball past your opponent or get them to hit it out while keeping it in the box.”
The boy’s tennis team plays at the REC in North Augusta for home games. Game days are announced on North Augusta High School social media accounts, as well as on the school’s website. The community continues to support the boy’s tennis team as they finish out their season.
