The Peach Ridge Invitational Kicks Off North Augusta Baseball

The North Augusta High School baseball team competed in the first tournament of their season: the Peach Ridge Invitational, hosted by Strom Thurmond.

“We went up against three teams,” says Josh Noyce, “Saluda, Aiken, and Gray Collegiate.” These matches resulted in two wins and two losses after playing Gray Collegiate twice.

“Our toughest opponent was Gray Collegiate,” said Zach Hardy, when asked about the games the team played over the course of the week.

“They are from a good program based in Columbia, South Carolina and they were the most challenging team we faced,” David Noyce says when asked about this difficult team, “they beat us in two tight games.”

Bryson Nuckols recalls the game, saying, “the most memorable moment in the tournament was coming back to tie the game against them.”

The tournament finished with North Augusta making it to the championship. “We ended up with two wins and two losses,” says Noyce.

Though the championship was not taken by the team, three members of the team left the field with awards for their play. Kaden Usry, Bryson Nuckols, and Zach Hardy each earned distinctions in the tournament’s award ceremony.

"Zach and Kaden both got the All-Tournament Team. Nuckols got All-Academic Team,” says Noyce. Both awards represent achievement and were well fought for in the tournament.

Nuckols looks forward to the season ahead, saying, “I feel like we are going to have a successful season, just like last year. We are working hard and making the adjustments we need to make."
